09.27.2011 ~ Alex & Friends ~ Guelph Family Photography

This is the 3rd year that I’ve taken family photos for Ami and Alex, and this year Alex had some friends invited to play with!  After much running around that seems to be common when you get a few active young boys together, I managed to grab some great fall photos of the boys together.  ~ Ada

09.25.2011 ~ Flav & Caty's Wedding ~ K-W Wedding Photos

One of the best compliments a wedding photographer can get is to be asked to shoot the wedding for another photographer. And that was the case this weekend when we were asked to shoot Flav and Caty's wedding! It was a really great honour and a wonderful opportunity to shoot for this beautiful couple, and they were truly blessed to have so many family and friends to make their wedding day to happen so smoothly. We were even presented with a certificate for the "Most Excellent Photographers" which was great fun. We travelled to the Shantzholm Pumpkin Farm and then to Rockway Gardens in Kitchener for family photos. They had a touching wedding service at the Kitchener Romanian Pentecostal Church, followed by the dinner reception at Guelph Place Banquet Hall. We've edited a small selection of the photos from the day, but the rest will be edited by Flav himself! Congratulations to Flav and Caty! More photos are posted on our Facebook page! ~ Ada & Andrew

09.17.2011 ~ Ken & Mandy ~ Mandarin Golf Club Wedding

Saturday was a beautiful day for Ken & Mandy’s wedding at the Mandarin Golf & Country Club in Markham.  Although the weather already felt like the fall, the sun definitely made the photos look like it was still summer.  Their wedding day started really early at 7:30am with a few door games of torture that Ken was able to conquer.  After that, they had a traditional Chinese tea ceremony followed by an wonderful outdoor ceremony on the patio.  And then we had a chance to go out on golf carts around the course to get some more beautiful shots of the couple!  Ken and Mandy had endless amounts of energy that day and they were all smiles right through the entire day.  Hopefully our photos will keep them smiling for many many years to come!  More photos are posted on our Facebook page, with plenty more to come in the future! ~ Ada & Andrew

09.10.2011 ~ Eugene & Mandy ~ Old Mill Wedding Photos

Last weekend we had lots of “first” experiences!  Besides being our first Korean wedding, it was also our first wedding shoot at The Old Mill in Toronto.  Amy & Eugene are such a sweet couple and they always have done everything together.  So it was fitting too that they would have the prep shots together as well (another first for us and it worked out so well)!  After some beautiful photos in the Distillery District with exclusive access to a rooftop patio, we headed off to the bustling Old Mill where the ceremony was held in the beautiful intimate chapel.  We may have to learn some Korean in the future so that we can shoot more Korean weddings, because most of the elders spoke to us in Korean too. =)

Amy and Eugene did an excellent job with the organization and entertainment, making the night a wonderful party for everyone!  More photos are posted on our Facebook page, with plenty more to come in the future!  ~ Ada & Andrew

08.28.2011 ~ Ken & Mandy Engagement Photos ~ Toronto Photography

Last Sunday was one of those days where you just didn't know what to expect with the weather.  The day started out promising for our engagement shoot with Ken and Mandy by Humber Bay Park.  But the clouds soon became dark, and the rain started to pour down in buckets in a bit over an hour before our photo shoot.  But they stayed positive and as the clouds broke and the sun started to come out, they decided to take the risk of getting all wet and they were well rewarded!  We got some awesome shots by the marina and when the rain started to come down again, they braved it out and kept on shooting until the skies started to clear again for some even better photos with the CN Tower in the background!  Great job Ken and Mandy!  We're looking forward to their wedding next month at the Mandarin Golf and Country Club in Markham! ~ Ada & Andrew

08.24.2011 ~ Yvonne's Family Photos ~ Guelph Photography

Yvonne’s children Danielle and Adam came to visit their mother from Dublin, Ireland.  And what better way to spend time together than having a family photo session!  We went over to the Boathouse in Guelph to take some photos in the park and along the river.  I hope they like their souvenir from Canada! ~ Ada

08.21.2011 ~ Martine & Nick Maternity Photos

After seeing my maternity photos from Tanieu, Martine was very excited to have some photos of her own taken with her own baby bump and her husband Nick.  They were both very comfortable in front of the camera and were of course looking forward to becoming first time parents.  The beautifully decorated baby room was probably the largest I had ever seen!  And I’m sure baby Mégane will be showered and spoiled with love and attention when she is born! ~ Ada

08.20.2011 ~ Fred & Bridget ~ Distillery District Wedding Photos

One of our most hip wedding locations to shoot on our list has always been the Distillery District in Toronto.  So it was a pleasant surprise when Fred and Bridget contacted us from Denmark to hire us for their wedding!  What made this wedding so special was almost all of the guests were from out of town and out of country!

They had a beautiful ceremony and a most creative wedding cake, followed by an intimate dinner at the Cannery.  Although there may have been other wedding parties at the Distillery on this day, I'm sure that Bridget and Fred received the most attention and congratulations when walking the streets.  We had people staring, clapping, cheering and even a lady who came up to the bride twice on different occasions to tell her that she was the most beautiful bride she had ever seen! :)  Bridget and Fred make a wonderful couple and we wish them a very happy marriage!

08.14.2011 ~ The Lin Family ~ Toronto Photographer

A common problem that we hear from parents is the fact that kids don’t like to cooperate for family photos.  Struggles in a photo studio often results in crying babies and toddlers or too few photos for the amount of time and effort spent jumping up and down with squeaky toys and stuffed animals.  That’s why we often suggest taking photos in a familiar environment so that kids are much more relaxed! :)  Familiar toys and snacks also help kids behave and allow for some great photo opportunities.

With our good friends, we were able to take baby and family photos at Monarch Park in Markham with 3 very young kids with relative ease and a single squeaky toy!  Have a look at the great photos we took for The Lin Family.  ~ Andrew & Ada

08.13.2011 ~ Rob & Liza's Wedding ~ Vaughan Wedding Photographer

We had another wedding this weekend at La Primavera Convention Centre in Vaughan for Rob and Liza's wedding!  But instead of attending in a professional capacity, we were guests because we've been close friends since our days of university.  But that didn't stop our itchy trigger fingers from taking a few shots for fun with our friends, some of which we hadn't seen for a long time!  I must admit it's been awhile since we've attended a wedding as guests, and we both had trouble in our formal attire taking some of the artistic photos that we're used to taking.  Here's to Rob and Liza!  We had a great time! ~ Andrew & Ada

08.04.2011 ~ What questions should I ask my photographer?

If you read our last posting regarding “How do I find a wedding photographer that I like” last season, you might be wondering what the next steps are after you’ve cut the list down to a special few and you’ve setup interviews with each of them.  So here are some questions and things to consider when you are interviewing your photographer:

  1. How many photos do you take on the wedding day?  How many will we get and how many will be edited?

  2. Do we get a copy of the digital negatives for all of our photos and is there any additional cost?

  3. Can you list the camera equipment that you use? (Do a search online after to check if the equipment is actually professional grade gear or not)

  4. For a second photographer (if so desired) what kind of experience do they have?  Are they an assistant/student or a professional?  What type of camera equipment will they be using as well?

  5. What is your turnaround time on returning the photos after the wedding day?

  6. Have you taken photos at <your venue name here> before?  If not, will you visit the location before the wedding?

  7. Are there any additional costs such as travel fees?

  8. (If there are albums included or you are interested in an albums) Can you describe the quality of your wedding albums or can you show me samples?

You should be judging the photographer on their answers but most of all if you like their PERSONALITY.  You’re trusting one of the most important tasks to this person who will be following you around all day, so if you don’t feel comfortable for whatever reason then that should be a big red flag.

What is one of the most often missed questions?
Ada’s Pick: What is the turnaround time on returning the photos after the wedding day?
Andrew’s Pick: Can you list the camera equipment that you use?

To find out the answers to the questions above, you’ll have to interview us! :) ~ Andrew

07.23.2011 ~ Ovi & Oana's Wedding ~ Romanian Wedding Photographer

We had a tremendous time shooting our very first Romanian wedding for Oana and Ovidiu's this past weekend in Kitchener.  After a beautiful wedding ceremony at St. John Romanian Orthodox Church, followed by photos at both Victoria Park and Rockwood Gardens in Kitchener.  And then reception was at the Concordia Club where friends and family danced the night away!

And I'm really happy to say we were able to get some teaser photos posted on our Facebook page the next morning before they went off on their honeymoon! More photos will come in the near future! ~Ada & Andrew

07.15.2011 ~ Rahul & Dharshini's Wedding ~ Mississauga Wedding Photos

We had so much fun taking photos for Rahul & Dharshini on Friday all over Mississauga!  After the soon-to-be-wed couple had their first reveal, we went to the waterfront at Adamson Estate in Port Credit to take some beautiful photos of the wedding party.  Followed by a touching wedding ceremony at Merciful Redeemer in Erin Mills.  The wonderful couple later had an awesome party at Roma’s Hospitality Centre just south of Brampton with plenty of food, drink and dancing for everyone!  There was never a dull moment during the entire day!  Congratulations to the happily married couple and thank you for having us!

07.10.2011 ~ The Mulder Family ~ Guelph Family Photographer

We had the great pleasure taking family photos for the Mulder Family at their farm just north of Guelph.  This was a unique experience for us because of the number of animals and locations to shoot on their farm.  And it was lots of fun for the kids too!  Mindy told us several times that it would be a challenge to get even one photo with all the kids looking at the camera at once based on their experience they had taking studio photos in Walmart.  But as you can see, that wasn't much of a problem since the kids were much happier playing in their own backyard!  We would love to do photos for the Mulders again in the future! ~ Ada and Andrew

07.08.2011 ~ Dr. Mirza's Family ~ Kitchener Photographer

It was great weather today as a photographer taking family photos at Victoria Park.  I had the pleasure of taking photos for Dr. Mirza and her extended family who were visiting from Texas.  What a nice souvenir to bring back with them of a Canadian summer!  ~ Ada

Just a few months ago, I took photos for Tanieu while baby Mason was in her belly. Now only a month old, Mason is one big baby weighing almost 10 lbs at birth! And he's definitely happy to be out and very content no matter where he sleeps! Congratulations to Angelo and Tanieu! ~ Ada
