03.27.2011 ~ NYC Vacation Photos

We just came back from a short vacation to New York before the wedding season starts. As usual, we ate and walked a lot! We visited ChikaLicious Dessert Bar which is one of Ada's NY trip highlights! We wish we have a dessert place like that in Kitchener! If so, it would be our place of choice to meet clients!

03.19.2011 ~ Baby Mike ~ Guelph Newborn Photographer

Babies are so cute and cuddly when they are newborns. Michael was no exception at all, squirming actively while I took photos of him with his proud parents Basia and Mike. Only 8 weeks old, I'm sure the next time I see him he will have changed so quickly!

03.02.2011 ~ Thank You Card and Save the Date Card Designs

Over the past few years, we’ve had clients request “Thank You” cards or “Save the Date” postcards from us but we weren’t able to find a company that delivered the quality that we wanted.  Today, we are happy to say that we’ve finally found a company that we can proudly use to print these products for our client!

The greatest thing about both the “Thank You” cards and “Save the Date” postcards is that I can design a custom layout for your card, which is another element that I love to do.

02.26.2011 ~ BMO Studio 54 ~ Kitchener Museum Photographer

We were definitely excited when we were asked to be a sponsor for the 2011 BMO Studio 54 fundraiser for the Children’s Museum in Kitchener.  Who would have known that the Children’s Museum could be transformed into an amazing night club, with Cirque de Soleil performers coming down from the ceiling and memorable singing performances from an excellent Cher impressionist and others.  For those of you not familiar with Studio 54 (I had to Wikipedia it myself), it was the name of a very popular discotheque in the 1970s frequented by celebrities in New York.  And did people ever dress to impress!  The theme for this year was “Naughtycal” (get it?) so there were plenty of strapping and sexy sailor outfits along with all the bell bottoms and platform shoes from the 1970s.  We even had some fun and dressed up as well!  Sound like fun?  Well mark your calendar for February 25th, 2012 for next year’s party!

02.04.2011 ~ EDCO Conference ~ Guelph Commercial Photographer

It was a great pleasure to be taking photos at the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) Conference for the 3rd year in a row at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Toronto! It was yet another successful conference with some very interesting speakers and educational information.

01.29.2011 ~ How do I find a Wedding Photographer?

We've had many clients and friends asking for our opinion on many topics related to photography.  We'd like to share some of the most common questions we've been asked in this series of posts.

The first question that we've been asked often is: "How do I find a wedding photographer that I like?"  With the age of the Internet, there are now an endless number of photographers in every city who have websites very much like this one you are reading now.  Searching through so many websites can definitely make you dizzy and even frustrated.  But here are two simple tips that you can use to come up with a short list of photographers.

1. Do you like the photos that they take?
Of course this one might seem like a no-brainer, but remember that most photographers will showcase only their best work, so you'll seldom get a chance to see an entire wedding from start to finish.  But if you do get a chance to view the actual client gallery, take your time to look through all the photos because it will give you a good idea of how the photographer will capture your entire wedding day.

2. Is it within your budget?
Another common sense criteria because money doesn't grow on trees unfortunately.  But here's some advice to consider when determining what your budget should be.  Wedding Photography is normally within the top three big ticket items for most people, and rightfully so!  (The other two are usually the venue and the catering.  Sadly, DJs are often the most under-rated and not enough budget is allocated for them.)  After your wedding day is over, the only thing that you'll have left from the three ticket items are your photos.

Stay tuned for our next FAQ: What questions should I ask my photographer?

In addition to working hard at photo shoots, we also play hard when we're on vacation. This year we had the opportunity to go to Europe and even got stuck there due to the volcanic cloud ash from the Eyjafjallajökull volcano! So glad that we brought our camera along! Europe Photos
